May 12-Monday
Weather warm and pleasant
To day has been quite a long day with
me here. put a gaurd on to 4 warehouses and examined them for
contraband goods was not very successful.
No news from our forces in any portion
of the Army in fact we do no seem to hear anything from any one. are
shut out from direct communication with the North. and news is at
least 2 weeks old when it arrives here.

Stores. also some more money
A number of thousands. the St
Charles. Butlers quarters has been
Crowded all day with applicants
For provisions. Bussiness is getting
